Adam de la Halle
(c. 1237 - 1287)
One of the best-known trouveres,
was both a poet and a composer. Many examples of his monodic as well
as his polyphonic compositions survive. Besides many rondeau
and virelais, his musical
play "Le jeu de Robin et de Marion,"
written for the entertainment of the Aragonese court at Naples, is still
performed.
