Johann Joseph Fux (1660-1741)
A German composer and theorist whose most important work was "Gradus
ad Parnassum" based on the contrapuntal style of Palestrina,
published in Vienna in 1725. It became a standard text in countrapuntal
instruction and was studied by such masters as Mozart
and Haydn.
